Terms of Service

These are the rules for using Chore Lock. We've written them in plain English on purpose — you shouldn't need a lawyer to understand a chore app. By using Chore Lock, you agree to what's on this page.
What Chore Lock is
Chore Lock is an iOS app for families, made by ACED LLC. Kids earn screen time by completing chores and proving it with a photo taken in the app; a parent reviews and approves, and the kid's apps unlock. When time runs out — or whenever a parent chooses — apps on the kid's device lock again. Chore Lock uses Apple's official parental-control technology (the system behind Screen Time) and requires iOS 18 or newer.
Accounts and who's responsible
- Parents run Chore Lock. A parent or legal guardian creates the household, adds kids, pairs devices, and controls every setting.
- You must be an adult to create an account, and you're responsible for what happens under your household — including keeping your sign-in details and parent PIN to yourself.
- Kids use Chore Lock only within a household a parent set up. By adding a kid, you're confirming you're their parent or legal guardian and you consent to the app storing the small amount of kid data described in our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Use Chore Lock for what it's for: managing your own family's chores and screen time. Don't try to break into other households' data, probe or overload our servers, resell the service, or use it to harm anyone. If an account is abusing the service or other families, we can suspend or close it.
Subscriptions and billing
- Chore Lock offers a free plan and paid subscriptions. Current prices are always shown in the app before you buy.
- All billing happens through Apple and your App Store account — we never see or store your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store subscription settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the period you paid for ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies.
What we don't promise
We're honest in our marketing, and we'll be honest here too:
No parental-control app can make a device tamper-proof, and we don't promise that determined tampering is impossible. What we promise instead is honesty: Chore Lock blocks what Apple's technology allows an app to block, and when something happens we can't block — like the app being removed or a permission being switched off — it's built to alert you rather than pretend everything is fine.
Chore Lock is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it reliable, but we can't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free — among other things, it depends on Apple's operating system, Apple's parental-control framework, and an internet connection, which aren't ours to control.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, ACED LLC's total liability for any claim connected to Chore Lock is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages — for example, lost data caused by a device failure, or a disagreement over screen time. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that consumer law gives you and doesn't let us exclude.
Ending things
You can stop using Chore Lock and delete your account in the app at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or abuse the service; if we ever discontinue Chore Lock entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice so your family isn't caught by surprise.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update this page, change the date at the top, and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Chore Lock after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
